In a massage session, clients will be given the privacy to completely undress--including their underclothes--and to get comfortable under a heavy sheet. The sheet will then be moved to undrape only the body part that is being massaged. If a client prefers not to completely undress, just let me know and I will gladly work with your preferences. The room is always kept at a comfortable temperature to prevent chilling.
In a full-body stretch session, the client should wear comfortable clothes that allow for movement and that appropriately covers their body. For example, if wearing loose shorts, be sure to wear a compression undergarment with them. Clean socks are also encouraged.
The first visit is a time to establish goals and to consider health conditions and preferences. I will have you fill out a brief intake form and then we will discuss it together. I will also ensure that all of your questions are answered and that we both agree on the plan of treatment. After the session, I may suggest exercises, stretches, or lifestyle tips that you can do at home.
After massage or bodywork, it's a good idea to ensure hydration by drinking a lot of water.
This is a stretching session in which I will move your body to stretch your muscles while you lie on the table, relaxed. The stretch is held for 30 seconds, although other stretching techniques may be used. While I am typically able to feel when a joint is at the point of a good stretch, I always check in with my client to ensure they are comfortable and feel satisfied with the amount of pressure being applied to the muscle and/or nerve.
Stretching is beneficial to improve range of motion, circulation, and to increase body awareness. Some research also points to benefits for one's mental health.
